AURORA HIGH SCHOOL

Aurora High School is an alternative school located on the campus of the Bridgeport School District. Regarded as a second-chance opportunity for students, Aurora serves high-need students, working students, young parents, juvenile offenders, and choice students from other districts.

While working to earn a high school diploma, students in grades 9-12 encounter a contract based, one hour per day, one-on-one format. Students must earn nineteen credits in specific competencies, as listed below, to meet Washington State minimum requirements for graduation.

Required Credits

English - 3 credits
Math - 2 credits
Science - 2 credits
Social Studies - 2.5 credits
Occupational - 1 credit
Fine, Visual, or Performing Arts - 1 credit
Electives - 5.5 credits
PE/Health - 2 credits

Aurora is staffed by one teacher and one paraprofessional.

Mr. Dan O'Connor

Mr. O'Connor is certified to teach in all areas of education. He received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University and obtained a master's degree in Curriculum Development from Gonzaga University. He also received a master's degree in Counseling from Heritage University.

Ms. Bianca Willis

Assisting Mr. O'Connor is Bianca Willis. Ms. Willis is a graduate of Aurora High School.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Aurora High School is to continually promote, explore, and sustain efforts with all learners, as well as with their families and the community, to achieve the furtherance of their educational goals through educational options that provide full opportunity for success, combined with the support and flexibility that diminishes excuses for failure.
