District items of interest:
The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is August 28, 2017 6:00 pm, Superintendent’s Office.
The State Board Executive Director, Ben Rarick and several Board members will visit Bridgeport High School on Monday, September 11th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Bridgeport continues to be a leader in student success around College in the High School and Advanced Placement. The state board is requesting a school staff member to show them around, and possibly have a student or two help as well.
Ensure a school culture where every student is respected, safe, academically challenged and engaged:
The buildings are cleaned and almost ready to go. The most obvious change is the High School hallway as lockers have been rearranged and moved to one side of the hallway, the hallway carpet is now tile, and the library carpet was replaced. The Middle School hallway now has lockers all the same color with enough for each student to have their own locker.
MEGA Mansion is now 24 years old and showing its age. A Clear Risk evaluation deems the structure ready for demolition. Communication to the public will shed light on the issue and we will look for removal before winter.
Ensure rigorous and relevant learning opportunities:
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction is pleased to offer your district a BEST grant for the 2017-2018 school year. The Best grant is to support new teachers to the profession.
Ensure high quality and effective personnel in all positions:
- All positions were filled……we are currently advertising for a school nurse. Congratulations to Diana Henderson as she is moving on to a faculty position with Wenatchee Valley College.
- ASB training is being scheduled for MS and HS advisors and coaches.
Ensure strong partnerships with students, families, and community:
Monday August 14th , 6:00 pm; there is an Athletic enrollment night for athletes, parents, and coaches. This is a clearing house to assist families in paperwork, fall sport expectations, fees, etc.
To help with communications regarding school updates and information we now have an App for that. You can download the SchoolWay app for Bridgeport School District. Contact the district office if you need directions.
Ensure district resources support the strategic plan
The heating/cooling control system at the elementary was rebooted this past week; however, it is on its last leg. The program itself is at end of life. We will look to upgrade as part of the construction project; however, we must get through this next year without a failure.
