MATH IS COOL!!!

  • The 6th grade Math is Cool team competed against other 6th graders from schools in North Central Washington and did an awesome job.

They took 1st place as a team and three of the team members also earned individual awards for their personal scores.  All students scored individually in the top 20 of their division.

Because of their fantastic showing at the regional competition, they will be competing at the state level on Saturday, May 20, in Moses Lake.  Good Luck at state, Bridgeport!

    District items of interest:

The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is February 27, 2017    6:00 pm, Superintendent’s Office.

TOTAL Average Enrollment  840  (not counting pre-school in these totals)

This Saturday Bridgeport High School will be the site for Basketball Playoffs. Two boys games and two girls games will decide seeding into District playoffs next week.   Games begin at 2 pm.

Ensure a school culture where every student is respected, safe, academically challenged and engaged:

The large amount of snowfall has created limited parking in all of our parking lots.  City crews will begin removing the large snow piles over the next 3 days to recapture those parking areas.  Large snow piles will appear at the end of the high school lot by the soccer field, between the portables and the high school, and along the street at the elementary school.

Ensure rigorous and relevant learning opportunities:

    • Congratulate our 6th grade “Math is Cool” students for getting 1st place in divisional competition!
    • Lorena has offered a beginning Spanish class to staff on Monday and Wednesdays right after school.  Currently there are ten staff members attending.
    •  Lorena and Jessica teach an ESL adult class through Wenatchee Valley College and an Early Childhood Education course.  These classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays.
    •  Wednesday Feb. 15th is an early release for professional development.  High School staff will engage in data planning around the interim assessment, Middle School staff will work around discipline data, and the elementary will focus on English Language standards in the classroom.  There will also be some work with the BEST grant mentors.
    •  Bridgeport Middle School will host the AWSP Middle Level Regional Conference on March 7th.  Up to 150 students from other schools will be in Bridgeport to take part.
